DSI participated in the Side Event of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Ministry of Justice, represented by Police Major Jatupol Bongkochmas, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, participated as a speaker in the Side Event of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) under the title “Making Digital Public Infrastructure Work for Women and Girls: A Life Cycle Approach.” The event was organized by UN Women in collaboration with the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology and the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA).

DSI has partnered with Mast Human and technology allies to pilot the use of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to support migrant workers and human trafficking victims by enhancing access to information, civil remedies, and protection measures. A key focus has been overcoming language barriers, which are a major obstacle to accessing justice. One significant initiative is the adoption of the Jugalbandi platform, developed by OpenNyAI in India, integrated with SEALION (Southeast Asian Language Model), a collaboration between institutions in Southeast Asia and South Asia. This integration enables automatic translation tools to assist migrant workers in filing wage claims and exercising their legal rights. This approach not only empowers migrant workers by facilitating access to their rights but also serves as a model for leveraging DPI and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance human rights protection and access to justice for vulnerable groups in the region, both are part of international cooperation under the framework of UN Women and DPGA.
