Every year the 5th June is marked as the National Anti-Human Trafficking Day of Thailand. The government regarded human trafficking problems as a complex crime and crime seriously violating human rights. The Thai government therefore has driven work to prevent and suppress human trafficking problems intensely and continuously. On April 3, 2015, General Prayut Chan-o-cha (Prime Minister) announced the prevention and suppression of human trafficking as a national agenda with determination to ultimately suppress and punish the offenders, to strongly integrate working of the networks of all sectors both domestically and internationally, and to urgently create the perspective on human trafficking of the Thai society as a threat close to everyone and an illegal act.
In 2022, the DSI as one of law enforcement agencies responsible for prevention and suppression of human trafficking in Thailand realized the importance of solutions to human trafficking problems. Mr. Triyarith Temahivong (the Director-General of the DSI) gave an interview in the project of ASEAN-ACT about the situation and trend of the problems of human trafficking and the guidelines for solving the said problem of the DSI on the occasion of organizing activities on the National Anti-Human Trafficking Day under the concept of “No Victims, No Tears” held on June 6, 2022, 9.00 a.m. at the Santi Maitri Building, the Government House, chaired by General Prayut Chan-o-cha (Prime Minister). The said interview was publicized to build correct knowledge about anti-human trafficking to people, networks of all sectors comprising the government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and international organizations.
