DSI representatives discussed inter-agency cooperation with high executives of Qatar Interior Ministry

       On December 22, 2019, at the Ministry of Interior, in Doha, the State of Qatar, Pol.Col.Akarapol Punyopashtambha (the Director of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime Bureau) as the representative of the Director-General of the DSI, accompanied by Pol.Lt.Col.Komvich Padhanarath (a Special Case Expert on Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime) paid a courtesy called on Major General Dr.Abdullah Al-Mal (Advisor to the Minister of Interior of Qatar) as invited by the Interior Ministry due to the close and good relationship between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Thailand. In this visit, the Advisor to the Minister of Interior of Qatar informed the Director of his wish to initiate the relation and cooperation between the Qatar Ministry of Interior’s agencies responsible for keeping peace, preventing and suppressing crime and prosecuting criminal cases and the DSI for developing law enforcement. The representatives of both agencies discussed and exchanged the present situation and future trend of major crime happening in each country, and agreed to enhance their cooperation in enforcing laws.

       In the visit to the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation under the Interior Ministry, Pol.Col.Akarapol Punyopashtambha met with Brigadier General Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi (the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department-CID) and discussed cooperation in criminal investigations, law enforcement, and intelligence exchange between the DSI and the CID, especially cyber and transnational crime control. The DSI team also visited the Economic and Cyber Crime Suppression Division and the well-equipped Cyber Lab of the CID. Besides, the CID agreed to exchange experience and share knowledge about the way to gather electronic evidence with the DSI for enhancing the DSI officials’ capacity for investigation and electronic evidence collection.

       On December 23, 2019, the DSI’s delegation visited key agencies under the Ministry of Interior, namely, the General Directorate of Drug Enforcement, the National Command Center, and the Qatar Police Cadet Academy. Discussion with the heads of the said three agencies about inter-agency cooperation in intelligence exchange and personnel competency enforcement benefited the improvement in work of the DSI.
