DSI joins hands with DNP through MOU on combating offences relating to natural resources and environment, focusing on exchanging experts and sharing information

​​                 .                 On Wednesday 5 April 2023 at 1400 hours at the DSI reception room, on 2nd floor of Government Complex (Building A), the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Ministry of Justice, by Director General Police Major Suriya Singhakamol and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, by Mr. Attapol Charoenchansa (Director General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources and Acting Director General of DNP) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation in Prevention and Suppression of Offences relating to Natural Resources and Environment.

                 In the presence of DSI Deputy Director General Police Captain Piya Raksakul and DNP Deputy Director General Mr. Narin Prathuanchai as witnesses, the signing of this MOU is intended to strengthen cooperation and reinforce efforts to take criminal proceedings as a special case against the offences relating to natural resources and environment as well as improve the management of exhibits from such cases for the purpose of effective law enforcement.

 

                  To this end, the MOU outlines the following cooperation framework:

                   1. facilitating cooperation in criminal proceedings against violations of the law on national parks, the law on wildlife protection and conservation, and other relevant laws

                    2. promoting the sharing, storing and use of information aiding both agencies in the investigation or the prevention and suppression of offences relating to natural resources and environment committed in forest reserves and other areas

                    3. ensuring the maintenance and management of exhibits is in compliance with relevant laws/regulations

                    4. encouraging skilled and knowledgeable officers to join the efforts to combat offences relating to natural resources and environment

                    5. focusing on participation in improving law enforcement capabilities, advancing investigation technologies, making useful tools available for efficient investigation, jointly exploring cooperation prospects with the Civil Society, and encouraging constructive activities to prevent encroachment and destruction of forest reserves and other areas
