The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is made aware of an urgent official letter (classification: Secret) no 0807/1047 dated 15 December 2022, sent from Department of Special Investigation at Jira Road, Nai Muang Sub-district, Muang Buriram, Buriram Province to Commander of Buriram Provincial Police. Signed by AMLO Deputy Secretary-General Police Major General Eakkarak Limsunggas with an official garuda seal, the letter concerns an investigation into money laundering and an instruction to keep official information confidential. The letter further indicates its issuing agency as Anti-Money Laundering Office, tel. 02-219 3600 and fax 02-219 390.
Please note that this letter is fake, created for unknown purposes. Its distribution will cause confusion among the public and damage to the Department of Special Investigation, whose name appears in the letter. It also constitute an offence of forging official documents under Section 265 of the Penal Code and an offence of entering wholly or partly spurious computer data or false computer data into computer system in a manner that is likely to cause damage to the public under Section 14 of the Act on Commission of Offences Relating to Computer B.E. 2550 (2007) and its amendments, which is punishable by a maximum imprisonment of 5 years or a fine not exceeding 100,000 baht, or both. The DSI Director-General Mr. Triyarith Temahivong has ordered a preliminary investigation into this activity. DSI therefore gives a warning to those involved to stop this illegal practice to avoid criminal prosecution.

The Department of Special Investigation is currently developing a specialized system for issuing summons and summoning letter in accordance with the Special Case Investigation Act B.E. 2547 (2004) to allow for efficient IT-based verification of its official documents.
