DSI and multiple agencies to enhance crime scene investigation capabilities with geographic information system

 

 

       On January 30, 2023, Mr. Pipat Penpak (Director of the Bureau of Technology and Information Inspection Center) chaired the opening ceremony of the Project to Enhance Crime Scene Investigation capabilities with Geographic Information System (GIS) held at the DSI Academy. The Project, scheduled for January 30 – February 3, 2023, was organized by the Mapping and Geo-information Technology Division, Bureau of Technology and Information Inspection Center in collaboration with internal and external agencies adept at utilizing special tools, namely, the Bureau of Special Operations, the Bureau of Development and Logistics, Faculty members of the Royal Police Cadet Academy, the Central Institute of Forensic Science, Thai Sky Vision Company Limited, and S.D.M. Company Limited. The agencies jointly study, research, develop, and exchange knowledge of special tool utilization by setting up simulations of traffic accident, hostage situation, and murder case to use unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for aerial investigation, inaccessible area surveillance, aerial photography, mapping for strategic planning and 3D laser scanner. The information can be generated and analyzed for use as evidence in courts to prosecute offenders.
