The Department of Special Investigation inspected the dsi-th.com website address, the URL of a fake DSI website, and discovered that such website copying its structure website (www.dsi.go.th) for its genuine look with Link or Messages on the screen recommending to download “DSI Safety System” application, claiming responsibility for protecting the data of users at all times. This harmful application is for mobile phones both Android and IOS systems, or iPhone. Once the installation is complete, the users are required to fill in their personal data. When making transactions, OTP Code is sent to the mobile phone. The data intercepted by the application is forwarded to criminals assisting them to make transactions as the owner of such mobile phone causing grave harm and damage.
The DSI already dealt with the problem. The website “dsi-th.com” is inaccessible. For damage prevention, the DSI therefore informs the public of criminal circumstances with suggestions as follows.
1. The only one website of the DSI is “www.dsi.go.th”. All websites of the DSI found by you, without the website address “www.dsi.go.th” are fake websites, for example, “dsi-th.com”.
2. For fake websites, do not click any Link in the website, do not fill in data or download/ install any application on your mobile phone.
3. Installing only the application that is safe and passed the verification of Google Play or Apps Store.
The DSI has assigned its Bureau of Technology and Information Inspection Center to inspect such matter in detail for further taking legal action.
