Deputy Director-General attended the 14th UN Crime Congress via video conference

 

 

       On Match 8, 2021, Pol.Col.Akarapol Punyopashtambha (a Deputy Director-General) was assigned by the Director-General to be the representative of the DSI in the 14th UN Crime Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Kyoto, Japan, on March 7-12, 2021. The Thai delegation headed by the Minister of Justice attended the opening ceremony and joined the meeting via video conference.

       The UN Crime Congress is the largest global international conference on crime prevention and criminal justice that holds every 5 years. In this year, the DSI was assigned to be the main responsible agency of Thailand in the “Workshop 4” on the topic of “The Current Trend of Crime, New Development, and Solution” aimed at promoting cooperation from all sectors and employing modern technology to suppress new forms of crime, for example, cybercrime, transnational crime, human trafficking, and illegal immigration. The said conference is an international forum for law enforcement agencies and agencies in the justice system of each country to exchange ideas, experience, and best practices in crime prevention and suppression that will further benefit to the work of the DSI as an agency playing important roles at the beginning process of Thai criminal justice systems.
