on the implementation of Personal Data Protection Act and Research
and Development of Law

      On Monday 17 July 2023,  Police Major Suriya Singhakamol, the Director General of Department of Special Investigation (DSI), and Assistant Professor Dr. Paeeena Srivanit, Dean of Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Academic Cooperation concerning Personal Data Protection Act and Research and Development of Law. Police Major Yuthana Praedam, Deputy Director General of Department of Special Investigation, and Mr. Sombun Mahunsuk, Director of Bureau of Legal Affairs, also signed the MOU together with Associate Professor Dr. Chachapon Jayaphorn, and Assistant Professor Dr. Pawat Satayanurug, Vice Deans of Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University, at reception room, 2^nd floor of the Rajaburi Direkriddhi Building (building A), Department of Special Investigation, the Government Complex, Chaeng Watthana Road. The signing was witnessed by Dr. Soontaree Songserm, an advisor of the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.

     Both agencies have the shared intent to drive forward the implementation of Personal Data Protection Act, Research and Development of Law, Academic works, the development of personnel, as well as training and seminars, which relate to Personal Data Protection Act and new laws, and to build knowledge and understanding of Personal Data Protection Act which is to raise the level and build the potential of personnel in special investigation missions and special case support missions, and Knowledge Development and compliance guidelines of laws. At the signing ceremony, special talks are also held as follows:

1. The Director of Department of Special Investigation gave a special talk on “DSI’s missions and Personal Data Protection”.

2. Dean of Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University, gave a special talk on “The Importance of Legal Cooperation for National Development”, and

3. The advisor of the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, gave a special talk on “Personal Data Protection Act and Elevation of a Country to International Standards”.

     The Department of Special Investigation realizes and emphasizes Personal Data Protection to develop the Data Security System and boost public confidence in strict compliance with laws, as part of its efforts to drive forward and elevate Thailand’s Personal Data Protection to International Standards.
