DSI and Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) discuss technical cooperation
published: 3/20/2024 4:07:24 PM updated: 4/4/2024 10:46:34 AM 34 views THOn March 19, 2024, at 02:00 p.m., Police Major Yutthana Praedam, Deputy Director of the Department of Special Investigation, Acting Director General of the Department of Special Investigation, assigned Police Captain Thinavudth Silapat, Director of Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime, to represent the Department of Special Investigation in welcoming Mr. Kittipoom Neamhom, Director of Office of External Relations and Policy Coordination, Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ), and his accompanying officials, on the visit to publicize the “Institutes of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network : UN-PNI” and discuss possible technical cooperation between the DSI and institutions of the UN-PNI network, comprising 18 institutions, with TIJ being one of them. TIJ serves as a bridge of knowledge to strengthen technical capabilities for Thai authorities. The institutions of the UN-PNI network specialize in: 1) transnational crimes and emerging threats, 2) access to justice, 3) investigative development, 4) correctional system development, and 5) innovative technology utilization.
In this regard, the DSI’s representative exchanged information with TIJ on current prioritized issues and challenges that the DSI is presently confronting with, as well as technical cooperative activities considered beneficial to the DSI. This discussion session signifies the initiation of establishing a framework for technical cooperation between the Department of Special Investigation and the institutions of the UN-PNI network in the future. TIJ will act as a bridge for transmitting information related to technical cooperation considered advantageous to the Department of Special Investigation, and subsequently, to the institutions of the UN-PNI Network.
