The DSI attended the 2021 UN Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum, Asia and the Pacific via Webinar organized by the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, ILO, UNDP, IOM, UNICEF and other partners on June 1-4, 2021 participated by over 1,000 attendees from various sectors in Asia and the Pacific.
The UN Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum, Asia and the Pacific is a forum against online child sexual exploitation and child labor in Asia and the Pacific. In this Forum the DSI represented law enforcement agencies in Thailand. The Director-General Pol.Lt.Col. Korrawat Panprapakorn assigned Pol.Capt. Khemachart Prakyhongmanee (a Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime Bureau) to present the roles of the DSI in dealing with the cases of child sexual abuse via online media in the topic of online grooming, especially in the COVID-19 situations and the development of laws in Thailand for child protection to the meeting of the aforesaid forum.
On May 31, 2021, at 10.00-11.30 a.m. in Thailand, before the Forum’s official opening, the ECPAT (End Child Prostitution and Trafficking) International Foundation, the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and other leading organizations arranged a discussion on the “Stepping up the fight against the worst forms of child labour in Asia- Pacific in the digital area” participated by delegates from international organizations including Thailand, namely, (1) Jennaline Serrano (The ECPAT Philippines), (2) Rebecca Nhep (The Better Care Network – Australia), (3) Damien Brosnan (The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism (The Code)) (4) Bharti Pflug (ILO) and (5) Pol.Capt. Khemachart Prakyhongmanee (DSI). In the discussion, Pol.Capt. Khemachart proposed a solution to child sexual abuse problem that cooperation of governmental and private sectors as well as the international cooperation for integrating solutions are essential. Participation in the said UN forum is a role of the DSI in a forum on crime at the international level.
