On Monday, April 18, 2022 at the meeting room of the Department of Special Investigation, Mr. Damian Robustelli (the Operations Director, Asia Region, the Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) and his team paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of the DSI, Mr. Triyarith Temahivong, and his deputy Director-General Pol.Lt.Col. Supat Thamthanarug to discuss the guideline for future cooperation between two agencies.
Since the past, the DSI has cooperated with the O.U.R., a non-profit organization from the United States having its missions against human trafficking and child exploitation with its assistance and remedies suitable for the victims. The O.U.R. has continuously integrated its work against human trafficking and child sexual abuse with the DSI. Moreover, the O.U.R. helped the DSI in its inspection and arrest in the case of “Nene Modeling”. The joint working guideline discussed during the courtesy call comprised:
1. exchanging the correct knowledge and understanding benefit to the work to suppress and resolve problems of child exploitation and human trafficking gangs in Thailand;
2. arranging training to improve skills and knowledge on investigations via the internet;
3. conducting tactical training;
4. convening meetings and seminars;
5. supporting the investigation work for prosecutions against criminals in human trafficking and child exploitation cases;
6. taking care and supporting to rehabilitate the victim, as well as monitoring the victim of human trafficking and child sexual exploitation after the rescue for happily living and health of the victim.
Moreover, the Operations Director, Asia Region, of the Operation Underground Railroad also bestowed the plaque on the Director-General as the DSI is an outstanding law enforcement agency and the DSI implements the UN’s Model Strategies and Practical Measures on the Elimination of Violence Against Children in the Field of Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, known as the victim centered approach, as the guideline for taking care of the victim.
