On June 29, 2018 Pol.Col.Paisit Wongmuang (Director-General of the DSI) and his deputy Pol.Lt.Col.Prawut Wongseenin led a team of the Public Sector Audit and Evaluation Committee of the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC) to the Sirinat National Park to inspect the DSI’s work under its project to regain the state’s land and preserve natural resources in Thalang District, Phuket Province.
The Director-General informed Mrs.Porntip Kaewmoolkam, the head of the OPDC team that the DSI has prioritized the participation in its work by the people and all related sectors as appeared in its strategy on “Development of Mechanism for Preventing Crimes regarded as Special Cases”, and that the DSI integrated its work with the public and private sectors and the networks of people organization at domestic and international levels to prevent, suppress, investigate and control special crimes according to its core values “Dignity, Specialty, Integrity”. From 2015 to 2017, the DSI was awarded the OPDC’s prices consecutively, namely the 2015 award for the DSI Map for Preventing and Suppressing Forest Trespass and Destruction, the 2016 award for the DSI’s Project to Return Land Rights and Protect Natural Resources in Khao Yao District, Phang Nga Province by Employing Participation Approaches, and the 2017 award for Proactively Providing Justice to Rawai Indigenous Fishermen.
The Deputy Director-General Pol.Lt.Col.Prawut Wongseenin, the head of the aforesaid project’s working group, also informed the head of the OPDC team of the project’s success in inspections of the documents of land title (Sor Khor 1) as his team could inspect 506 plots of land, from 627 plots in total, within 26 days. Collaborating with the local police, the DSI could prosecute the officials and persons involving themselves in issuing and possessing 5 documents of land title in the Sirinat National Park who were sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment by the court.
The head of the OPDC team Mrs.Porntip Kaewmoolkam highly praised the DSI for its work.
