DSI signed MOU on Counter-Transnational Crime Cooperation with
the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
On August 24, 2017, in Washington, D.C., the US, Pol.Col. Paisit Wongmuang, the DSI’s Director-General, and Mr. Thomas Homan, Acting Director of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), jointly signed the MOU on Counter-Transnational Crime Cooperation witnessed by the Pol.Lt.Col. Korawat Panprapakorn, the DSI’s Deputy Director-General, Pol.Lt.Col. Paisith Sungkahapong, the Director of Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime, and the ICE’s senior executives.
The MOU reflects the success of jointly and closely working between the DSI and the ICE through the past years leading to the great achievement of their missions. The arrest of Mr. Wirapol Sukphol or Nen Kham, the DSI’s alleged offender, in the US by the ICE for extradition to Thailand in July 2017 resulted from their cooperation.
This MOU will enhance their working in various types of activities, namely intelligence exchange, joint investigation and inquiry, and the academic cooperation in the fields of the improvement in personnel’s skill in handling cyber, fraud, money laundering, human trafficking, and intellectual property infringement crimes regarded as their serious prioritized crimes. The signed MOU expressed both agencies’ intention to collaborate for countering transnational crime and creating peaceful societies in general.
