On 10 September 2018, Pol.Col. Paisit Wongmuang, the DSI's Director-General, together with representatives of organizations under the justice system and academic institutions (8 agencies in total) jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Promotion of Human Rights with the Office of the National Human Rights Commission. The event presided by Mr. What Tingsamitr, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand, was held at the Auditorium Room of the Centra Hotel, Chaengwatthana, Bangkok.
The MOU aims to generate a systematic academic cooperation on human rights to the public's benefit and to create and cultivate a culture of respect for human rights that will strongly and sustainably flourish as the foundation of ways of thinking and living that bring peace to the society and the nation.
The said 8 organizations consist of the Department of Special Investigation, the Department of Corrections, the Office of the Attorney General, the Ministry of Education, the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies of Mahidol University, the Ramkhamhaeng University, the Srinakharinwirot University and the International Institute for Trade and Development (Public Organization).
