On August 23, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at the DSI, the Director-General Pol.Col. Paisit Wongmuang and his Deputy Director-General Pol.Maj. Suriya Singhakamol together with the Director of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime Pol.Lt.Col. Paisith Sungkahapong welcomed a team of Australian experts on cyber security led by Dr. Issac Kfir as the Director of the National Security Programme and the Head of the Counter-Terrorism Center under the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), accompanied by the officers of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) stationed in Thailand, who paid a courtesy call on the Director-General Pol.Col. Paisit Wongmuang.
The meeting discussed the current threats of cybercrime, the challenges being faced by Thailand and countries in this region, and the regional cooperation on counter-cybercrime. The Australian expert team also obtained information about the national policy and strategy on cyber security of Thailand and the DSI's role in fighting against cybercrime and its cyber cases from the lectures by Pol.Lt.Col. Patana Sugarasut (a special case expert) and Mr. Wasawat Chaowalittharong (a special case inquiry official, senior professional level) as assigned by the Deputy Director-General Pol.Maj. Suriya Singhakamol.
The ASPI is responsible for collecting information to make a report named the Cyber Maturity in the Asia-Pacific Region Report and to propose its suggestions about defense policies, security strategies, and international politics to the government of Australia.
