AFP met DSI to jointly enhance expertise in digital evidence collection and forensics

On Thursday, November 4, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at the DSI, representatives of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in Bangkok, Mr. Simon Lalic (Senior Officer) and Mr. Matthew Humphries (Regional Digital Forensics Specialist) paid a courtesy call on Deputy Director-General Pol.Col. Akarapol Punyopashtambha to discuss cooperation between the AFP and the DSI, especially personnel expertise enhancement, attended by Pol.Maj. Jatupol Bongkochmas (Director of the Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime) and his officials, together with officials from the Bureau of Development and Logistics and the DSI Academy.

Both agencies have agreed that personnel expertise development for effectively responding and coping with cybercrimes is a necessity, particularly gathering and analyzing digital forensic evidence against criminals exploiting modern technologies to facilitate cybercrimes. The AFP is willing to support the DSI by providing its experts to transfer knowledge and experience to officials of the DSI at its DSI Academy, as well as designing and developing various training courses for handling new crimes in expectation that trainees not only can apply knowledge gained from the course in practice, but also can pass on the acquired knowledge to other officials after the training.
