On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, 10:00 a.m., at the DSI, Pol.Lt.Col.Prakorn Sucheevakun (a Deputy Director-General of the DSI) and Pol.Col.Akarapol Punyopashtambha (the Director of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime Bureau) welcomed Ms.Anik Leclerc, a liaison officer, and her team from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) who paid a courtesy visit to introduce her team and to congratulate the Deputy Director and the Director on their new positions.
The DSI has cooperated closely with and the RCMP on the fight against transnational crimes, intelligence exchanges, parallel investigations, and training. In their discussion, the delegation of RCMP informed the DSI of Canadian Government's concern for many types of transnational crimes, namely transnational organized crime syndicates, money laundering, smuggling of people, trafficking in persons, and illegal immigration.
The delegation of RCMP thanked the DSI for its previous support to investigating, inquiring and suppressing transnational crimes including child sexual abuse committed by foreigners. The delegation insisted on enhancing the RCMP's relationship with the DSI in the future. Besides, as the elected chairman of the Foreign Anti-Narcotics and Crime Community (FANC), the RCMP's delegation will give priority to the DSI's role in FANC.
