DSI and RLPD joins meeting to build understanding on Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act B.E. 2565 (2022)

 

 

       Monday, February 6, B.E. 2566 (2023) the Director of Bureau of Security Crime Mr. Thawewat Surasit (assigned to represent the Director-General of the DSI) and Deputy Director-General of Rights and Liberties Protection Department (RLPD) Mr. Kerdchoke Kasemwongjit jointly presided over the workshop on building up an understanding on the Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act B.E. 2565 (2022) and the procedural guideline of the DSI, as the aforesaid law will be enforced on February 22, B.E. 2566 (2023). This workshop was held at Magic 3 Venue, Miracle Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok. The workshop included a lecture on the topic of “International Standard on Anti-torturing and enforced disappearance” by Emeritus Professor Vitit Muntarbhorn, the special representative and former independent expert on Human Rights of the United Nations. This workshop also included an academic forum on “Background and main points of the Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act B.E. 2565 (2022)” by Dr Namtaee Meeboonsalang (the Director of Research Institute for Developing Investigation and Prosecution, the Office of the Attorney-General) and Mrs. Thansuda Norkaew, the representative of International Human Rights Division, (RLPD). This workshop is useful for both agencies’ preparation and for strengthening the right knowledge and understanding of the special case inquiry officials, special case officers, and personnel of the DSI to be able to perform tasks according to the Tortured and Enforced Disappearance Act, B.E. 2565 (2022)
