Ministry of Justice executives visited Ban Rawai Sea Gypsy Community
to inspect problems

On Saturday 28 January 2023, 09:00 hrs., at Ban Rawai Sea Gypsy Community, Mueang District, Phuket Province, Permanent Secretary for Justice Mrs. Phongsaward Guyaroonsuith, Deputy Permanent Secretaries Mr. Wanlop Nakbua and Police Lieutenant Colonel Prawut Wongseenin along with Central Institute of Forensic Science’s Director-General Police Major Suriya Singhakamol (Acting Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation), DSI Deputy Director-General Police Captain Piya Raksakul and officers from other relevant agencies, visited Ban Rawai Sea Gypsy Community to inspect problems on human rights, habitats and arable land, etc.

Ministry of Justice has its role in providing assistance to people residing in the area by ensuring access to justice, which needs to be supported by authorities under jurisdiction of Justice Ministry such as Department of Special Investigation, as the main authority responsible for fact-finding. If people still suffer from the problems, they can report such problems to Phuket Provincial Justice Office and Special Case Operations Center Region 8, where complaints from local people are accepted and sent to responsible authorities for consideration in order to maximize the ability to assist people.
