Delegation of U.S. Embassy visits DSI to collect information on human trafficking for TIP Report 2022

 

 

       On January 27, 2022, Mr. Triyarith Temahivong (the Director-General of the DSI) assigned Pol.Maj. Siriwish Chantechasitkul (the Director of Human Trafficking Crime Bureau) to welcome Ms. Angeline Bickner (Political Affairs Associate - Human Trafficking and Background Checking) and the delegation of the U.S. Embassy in Thailand paying a courtesy call on the Director-General of the DSI for information about the human trafficking situation in Thailand and the prevention and suppression work against human trafficking in Thailand of the DSI, at the meeting room of Human Trafficking Crime Bureau, the Rajaburi Direkriddhi Building (the Government Complex, Chaeng Watthana, Building A), Bangkok. In the meeting, the DSI’s missions, prevention and suppression policies against human trafficking for the year 2022, and the results of investigation, inquiry, and the prosecutions of human trafficking cases and cases of government officials partaking in the human trafficking in the Quarter 1 of the fiscal year 2022 was presented to the said delegation including the DSI’s important projects and proactive measures to check and identify the injured persons from human trafficking for labor purposes, especially, labor in the fishing sector according to the suggestion in the TIP Report of the USA. The delegation of the U.S. Embassy was interested in creating databases, particularly, information of government officials involving in human trafficking, and establishing the Human Trafficking Victim Identification Center at the DSI Academy, Nong Chok, Bangkok, with its plan to visit the Center next time.
