The DSI accepted the case of Lieutenant Rungchalerm Phansawat or Lieutenant Ball, a Band Platoon Sergeant of the Military Circle 210, shot dead by a murderer on February 10, 2021, at 7.30 p.m. for considering investigating this criminal case and proposing it to be a special case of the DSI in accordance with the Special Case Investigation Act. The crime scene was the Military Circle 210, Fort Phrayotmueangkhwang, Kurukhu Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Phanom Province as reported on news by the media. Later, the Director-General approved this case to be investigated as its investigation case no. 96/2564 subject to Section 23/1 paragraph two of the Act.
On Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 9.00 a.m. the Director-General Mr. Triyarith Temahivong and Pol.Maj. Yuthana Praedam, the Deputy Director-General overseeing this case, ordered Mr. Mahesak Punsanga (the Director of Regional Operation Bureau), and his deputy director Mr. Worapoj Maihom, Pol.Lt. Settawut Saipong (the Head of the Special Case Operations Center, Region 3) and the investigation team of the investigation case no. 96/2564 to join forces with the inquiry officials of the Mueang Nakhon Phanom Police Station, the investigative officers of the Mueang Nakhon Phanom Police Station, the investigative officers of Nakhon Phanom Provincial Police, the military police of Military Circle 210, Fort Phrayotmueangkhwang, and the special operation team of Mekong Riverine Unit equipped with the search warrant of the Nakhon Phanom Provincial Court to search 7 suspicious places where 5 places were in the area of Fort Phrayotmueangkhwang and the 2 other places were in the nearby area. From the search, it was found the old 11 and 9 mm bullets, notebook computer, communication tool, and important documents. The search team then seized the exhibits for examination.
The search resulted from joint further investigations by the investigation team responsible for the investigation case no. 96/2564, the police, and the military police of Military Circle 210, and the evidence and clues found.
