DSI and Provincial Police Region 4 discovers conclusive evidence confirming the murder of “Lieutenant Ball” of Band Platoon, 210th Military Circle by a group of persons

At present, the DSI is currently investigating the case of Lieutenant Rungchalerm Phansawat or Lieutenant Ball, a Band Platoon Sergeant of the 210th Military Circle, shot dead on February 10, 2021, at approximately 7.30 p.m., by the culprit in Fort Phrayotmueangkhwang, Kurukhu Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Phanom Province, to determine whether there are reasons to propose for the resolution of the Board of Special Case to accept the case as a special case under the Special Case Investigation Act, B.E. 2547 (2004). The investigation has progressed periodically as shown in previous news.

Later, Mr. Triyarith Temahivong (Director-General) and Pol.Maj. Yuthana Praedam (Deputy Director-General), the supervisors, ordered Mr. Mahesak Punsanga (Director of Bureau of Regional Operation), Mr. Woraphot Maihom (Deputy Director of Bureau of Regional Operation), Pol.Lt. Settawut Saipong (Head of DSI Academy) and the DSI investigation team to meet with the inquiry official team of Mueang Nakhon Phanom Provincial Police Station, police officers of Mueang Nakhon Phanom Provincial Police Station and the investigation team of the Provincial Police Region 4 to inform the progress and coordinate for investigation information among the agencies, as well as to collaborate with the military officers of the 210th Military Circle, Fort Phrayotmueangkhwang to create the crime scene and the route believed to be the escape route of the culprit. The investigation results are consistent, indicating that there are no less than 2 culprits jointly committed this crime with prior planning and cover-up story. They assigned spotter roles by tracking the dead man’s vehicle from before entering the Fort until at the crime scene in the Fort. Moreover, another culprit was hired to ride a motorcycle shadowing the dead man’s motorcycle and escape after committing the crime, posing as the gunman to draw attention of the witnesses at the crime scene, creating an opportunity for the real gunman to escape on the other route by assistance of the outsider staying in the Fort on the date of incident. The investigation team will coordinate for information before petitioning for the court’s arrest warrants against relevant persons for further prosecution.

This case was an effective, integrated working between the inquiry officials of the Royal Thai Police and the investigation team of the DSI, a working method under the Special Case Investigation Act, B.E. 2547 mobilizing state’s resource for suppressing important crime.
