DSI Director-General meets with Governor of Phuket Province to discuss public land encroachment on Leypang Beach, Phuket Province

 

 

       Today (Tuesday, June 7, 2022), at 9.30 a.m., Mr. Triyarith Temahivong (Director-General), accompanied by Pol.Capt. Piya Raksakul (Director of Bureau of Financial, Banking and Money Laundering Crime), Pol.Capt. Thad Loutavee (Secretary), Mrs. Yaninee Kiatphibool (Head of Public Relation Division and Deputy Spokesperson of the DSI) and Mr. Suphachai Khamkhum (Head of Special Case Operation Center Region 8), met with Mr. Narong Woonciew (Governor of Phuket Province), Mr. Amnuai Pinsuwan (Vice Governor of Phuket Province) and heads of relevant government agencies in Phuket Province, namely, Thalang District Chief Officer and Phuket Land Officers, at the meeting room of Phuket Provincial Hall, to discuss the land reserved for public use relating to the special case handled by the DSI in the area of Leypang Beach, Choeng Thale Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket Province (special case no. 4/2560)

       The Director-General stated that today, he requested to meet with the Governor of Phuket Province and heads of relevant government agencies in Phuket Province to discuss the matter detailed the letter of Thalang District Chief Officer to the Governor of Phuket Province requesting the reservation of 178 rais of land to be a public land for public use.

       In the discussion, the Governor informed the DSI that the Department of Lands has formed a committee under the Land Code to consider the said request in accordance with the details of the court’s relevant judgment in order to provide fairness for all parties including stakeholders, such as the tenants, the mortgagees, etc. The said committee is currently working. For the aforementioned special case, the government officials involving themselves in the case were prosecuted and the court rendered its final judgment to punish the offenders as appeared in the previous news. The judgment clearly prescribed that the aforesaid area is a public domain of state. For the prosecution against private persons in the same case, it is being inquired by the DSI. The DSI will urgently take action according to its procedures and issue its order.
