DSI and ABF signed MOU on the disclosure and use of information

           On November 21, 2017, at the Department of Immigration and Border Protection in Canberra, Australia, Pol.Col. Paisit Wongmuang, the DSI's Director-General and Mr. Michael Outram APM, Acting Director of Australian Border Force (ABF), as the representative of the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection jointly signed the MOU on the disclosure and use of information witnessed by Pol.Col. Songsak Raksaksakul, the DSI's Deputy Director-General, Pol.Lt.Col. Paisith Sungkahapong, the Director of Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime, and his team, and Australian's officials.

 

          The MOU is aimed at promoting exchange of information important to the mission of both agencies such as enforcement of narcotics, customs, immigration laws, and other laws related to transnational border crime. The previous matters of cooperation in personnel competency development and information exchange between the DSI and the ABF resulted in the success of their joint operations. For instance, the suppression of a criminal gang smuggling steroids into Australia for sale in 2016, their joint force to search the target area in Pattaya, Chonburi Province could bring about the arrest of 6 alleged offenders and the seizure of exhibits valued 5 million baht by the DSI.
