The Director-General Pol.Lt.Col.Korrawat Panprapakorn was reported by his deputy Pol.Lt.Col.Supat Thamthanarug that on May 2, 2021, officials of the Bureau of Human Trafficking Crime coordinated with the Dubai Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Dubai to rescue Thai women and searched a room no.210 of New Rolla Building in Dubai used as a brothel owned by a group of Chinese nationals and run by a Korean male. There, 7 Thai women tricked and forced into prostitution were rescued.
This operation resulted from the information provided to the Bureau of Human Trafficking Crime by a whistleblower in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, about the request for help from a 32-year-old Thai woman persuaded by a Thai broker to work as a masseuse in Dubai. She paid the broker 5,000 baht fee and deleted the chat log in her phone as asked by the broker before travel. When she arrived in Dubai, a Chinese female picked her up at the airport. Later, she realized that she was tricked and forced to engage in prostitution. Her passport was confiscated. She was locked up in the room no.210 of New Rolla Building used as a brothel owned by a group of Chinese nationals and controlled around the clock by a Korean male. She had to work to pay back the 7,000 dirham (about 70,000 baht) travel cost and was physically assaulted when she refuse to work. The Bureau’s officials requested the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai to rescue the said Thai woman. This led to the search and rescue of the aforesaid 7 Thai women who are waiting for returning to Thailand. The DSI will continue to closely coordinate with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai for further proceedings.
The Director-General declared that the DSI persists with its efforts to investigate, inquire, prevent and suppress human trafficking crime, and wishes to warn the people not to believe anyone claiming to be a broker offering Thai massage jobs in foreign countries, such as Korea, Malaysia, the UAE, or Bahrain, with high wage, comfortable accommodation and non-forced prostitution. If anyone has information or clues about human trafficking, please report them to the DSI at 128 Chaengwattana Road, Thung Song Hong Subdistrict, Lak Si District, Bangkok or the DSI Hotline 1202 (nationwide toll free number). The DSI will keep the informants’ information confidential.
