DSI went to inspect the trespassed area about 108 rai of the National Reserved Forest, on the Nak-Kerd mountain, above the Bang Ward water reservoir, Kathu Subdistrcit, Kathu District, Phuket Province

 

 

       On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, the DSI Director-General Pol.Lt.Col. Korrawat Panprapakorn ordered officials of the National Resources and Environment Crime Bureau to go to the area for inspecting the case of trespasses on the areas about 108 rai of the National Reserved Forest, on the Nak-Kerd Mountain, above the Bang Ward water reservoir in Kathu Subdistrcit, Kathu District, Phuket Province.

       This case, on January 22, 2021, officials from the Royal Forest Department joined forces with related agencies to inspect the trespass on forest areas covering about 108 rai of the National Reserved Forest, on the Nak-Kerd Mountain, above the Bang Ward water reservoir, Kathu Subdistrcit, Kathu District, Phuket Province and seized the areas and reported the case for prosecution by inquiry officials of the Kathu Police Station in the offences under the Forestry Act, B.E. 2485 (1942) and the National Reserved Forest Act, B.E. 2507 (1964). Subsequently, on March 5, 2021, the Royal Forest Department submitted the said case to the DSI for consideration to accept the case as its special case because the commission of offence happened in areas of Phuket Province known as a key tourist place of the country, the crime was committed by a group of influential people disrespecting laws, and its nature is an offence pursuant to the Special Case Investigation Act, B.E. 2547 (2004). Henceforth, the DSI by its Bureau of National Resources and Environment Crime is going to investigate for details of the commission of offence. If it is found that this crime has its nature as a special case, the DSI will request for transfer of the case from the Kathu Police Station to take legal actions pursuant to the Special Case Investigation Act, B.E. 2547 (2004).

 

 

       It is duty of the DSI to protect natural resources of the country, the state interest, by determination and mobilization of its resources and officials to secure the sustainability of natural resources, and prioritizing the counter against the state’s land trespasses to reclaim the country’s forest areas and lands unlawfully occupied and possessed by persons to be the public treasury for next generations.
