DSI Acting Director-General led the searches on companies financially linked to the importer of animal carcasses (pork) and seized evidence

On 21 December 2023, Police Major Yutthana Praedam, Acting Director General of the DSI, led the special case inquiry official team of the special case no. 104/2566, joined by the officials of the Central Institute of Forensic Science (CIFS), to execute the Criminal Court’s search warrants on Food Village Co., Ltd. in Phra Prathon Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Pathom Province and Tanaosri Kai Thai Co., Ltd. in Thanon Khat Subdistrict Mueang District, Nakhon Pathom Province, to search for evidence.

This operation originated from the DSI’s investigation on the case of import of animal carcasses (pork) into the Kingdom without permission. The investigation discovered that offenders’ financial trails were linked to the said two companies. Moreover, it was found that the money was transferred to a group of companies owned by Chinese and Thai owners that imported frozen parts of chicken carcasses into the Kingdom without permission and exported them to China by assuming the identity of a company with permission.

The search on Food Village Co., Ltd. resulted in the seizure of 7 computers and documents regarding its trades with Tanaosri Kai Thai Co., Ltd. For the search on Tanaosri Kai Thai Co., Ltd., the team seized documents, namely, Permit for transport of animals or carcass into, out of, or within the temporary epidemic zone or epidemic surveillance zone, animal meat vendor certificate, animal epidemic analysis, testing, and autopsy report, list of goods vendors and service providers, health certificate for frozen food, and record of chicken sales, etc. Afterward, the executives of both companies will be summoned to be interviewed by the special case inquiry officials regarding the relevant facts on this matter.

Apart from the financial trails, the investigation also uncovered evidence linked to high-ranking officials, both government officials and political officials of the related agencies, especially the agencies authorizing the import and export of the goods, who were suspected of conspiring in the wrongdoing.
