On Friday, September 30, 2022, Mr.Triyarith Temahivong, DSI Director-General, accompanied by Pol.Capt.Piya Raksakul, DSI Deputy Director-General and Mr. Suphachai Khamkhum, Head of Special Case Operations Center Region 8, visited Leypang and Layan beaches and joined forces with the local government agencies, led by Mr. Narong Woonciew, Governor of Phuket Province, Thalang District Chief, Phuket Land Officer, Superintendent of Choeng Thale Provincial Police, Chief Executive of Choeng Thale Subdistrict Administrative Organization and other agencies, to conduct the demolition of construction according to the court judgment to combat the public land encroachment on the 178-Rai Land of Leypang and Layan beaches, Choeng Thale Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket Province.
Mr.Triyarith Temahivong stated that, in accordance with the policy guidelines of Mr.Somsak Thepsuthin, the Minister of Justice, the responsible agencies are to reclaim natural resources and environment being encroached with illegally obtained title deeds, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) visited the area to spearhead the effort and join forces with local agencies, such as, the Governor of Phuket Province, Thalang District Chief, Phuket Land Officer, Superintendent of Choeng Thale Provincial Police Station, Chief Executive of Choeng Thale Subdistrict Administrative Organization and other agencies who gave active cooperation. The DSI observed the operation and commended the officials of agencies for their courage to successfully reclaim the natural resources on the 178-Rai Land with the total value of approximately fifty billion baht of public property belonging to over 70 million people.
The DSI has launched a Special Case Investigation into the case of the 178-Rai public land in the area of Leypang and Layan beaches. The DSI is determined to preserve natural resources and give priority to the policy guidelines of the Minister of Justice regarding a speedy response to public land encroachment, to reclaim forest land being illegally owned as private property, as well as to protect and preserve natural resources and public land which are the significant resources of the nation, for the next generations, and to be in accordance with the guidelines of the DSI Director-General for its officials, that “DSI provides an easy access to justice”
