On Thursday, March 28, 2019, Pol.Col.Akarapol Punyopashtambha, the Director of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime Bureau of the DSI, was invited to attend a meeting of the members of the Foreign Anti-Narcotics and Crime Community of Thailand (FANC). The attendees in the meeting comprised the representatives of 32 foreign law enforcement agencies stationed in Thailand and the representatives of 2 international organizations namely the UNODC and the ILEA in Thailand.
The Director presented information about the role, mission and key achievement of the DSI in particular its efforts to fight against transnational crime. The Director also exchanged his experience and ideas about the challenges facing law enforcement agencies, trends of transnational crime, and international cooperation to dismantle transnational organized crime syndicates.
Since its establishment, the DSI has worked closely with the FANC in terms of investigations into cases, academic cooperation in the form of training and expert exchanges, and intelligence exchanges leading to success in its operations to arrest members of transnational organized crime syndicates and to pursue fugitives from justice for prosecution in Thailand.
