The DSI by its Center Against Criminal Proceeds Laundering has expanded its inquiry to related persons in identifying the acquisition of property (land) by connecting financial routes to the property owned by the network of former executives of the Cooperative of the Railway Club taken the proceeds from the said Railway Club’s bank account and transformed the proceeds into properties in order to hide and conceal the source of the properties or do any other acts to conceal or disguise the true nature of the acquisition or attainment, owning or using the properties knowingly at the time of acquisition resulting in the seizure of the said properties

Today, on April 9, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., Pol.Lt.Col.Korrawat Panprapakorn (the Director-General) assigned Pol.Lt.Col.Somboon Sarasith (a Deputy Director-General) Pol.Lt.Col.Jukkrit Visetketgarn (the Director of Special Operation Bureau), Mr.Rawee Aksiri (the Head of the Center Against Criminal Proceeds Laundering), Mr.Thawatchai Ratanapreechachai (a Deputy Head of the Center Against Criminal Proceeds Laundering) and Mr.Phongthawat Uamsamang (the Head of Criminal Proceeds Laundering Crime Division 3) together with officials from the Phetchaburi Provincial Police Station, the Phetchaburi Provincial Land (Tha Yang Branch) and Mr.Prakob Phaopong (an Inspector General of the Cooperative Promotion Department) went to seize land with buildings in many areas, namely (1) 6 plots of land in Thawi Watthana District, Bangkok, (2) 7 rooms in the Hallmark Chaengwattana Condominium, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province, (3) 23 plots of land in the Pruek Piman 3 housing estate project, Na Wung Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phetchaburi Province, and (4) 49 plots of land in Kaeng Krachan District, Phetchaburi Province, totaling 85 plots worth approximately 85,601,690 Baht. In this seizure, the DSI has examined the financial routes of the group of people. Therefore it is reasonable to believe that the proceeds from the said Cooperative were used for purchase of the seized land.

This operation is a response to the policies of Thai government and Mr.Somsak Thepsutin (the Minister of Justice) who urged the DSI to expedite the action against the properties of the offenders quickly, consecutively, and fairly to all parties for returning the money to the Railway Club’s Cooperative and its members as remedy for victims. Therefore the DSI will take all actions needed, integrate its work with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) for seizing/freezing properties relating to the said crime, for requesting the public prosecutor to request the court to order the return of the properties in connection with the offence or to indemnify the victims (6,000 members of the said Cooperative and its 15 cooperative allies) for effectively enforcing the law and building public confidence with great results according to the Anti-Money Laundering Act, B.E. 2542 (1999) and the Special Case Investigation Act, B.E. 2547 (2004).
